The Platinum Angelfish is a stunning freshwater aquarium fish known for its shimmering, metallic appearance and graceful swimming style. As a variant of the common angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare), it possesses the same elegant body shape but stands out due to its unique silvery-white coloration, which lacks the typical stripes of wild-type angelfish. This coloration is the result of selective breeding and does not occur in wild populations. Platinum Angelfish are relatively peaceful but can be territorial, especially during breeding. They are a popular choice for aquarium enthusiasts due to their striking appearance and the serene ambiance they add to an aquarium.

Origin:
The Platinum Angelfish is originally derived from the Amazon Basin in South America, but the specific platinum variety has been developed through selective breeding in captivity.

Temperature:
The ideal temperature range for Platinum Angelfish is between 25°C and 28°C (77°F to 82°F).

Feeding:
These fish thrive on a varied diet, which should include high-quality flake food, frozen or live brine shrimp, bloodworms, and plant-based foods like spirulina.

Water Quality:
Platinum Angelfish require a pH level between 6.0 and 7.5, with water hardness around 5-13 dGH.

Ideal Aquarium Size:
For optimal health and growth, a minimum tank size of 100 liters is recommended for Platinum Angelfish. They need ample space to swim and prefer a well-planted aquarium with plenty of hiding spots.

Lifespan:
With proper care, Platinum Angelfish can live up to 10 years, offering a long-term commitment and a rewarding experience for aquarists.

Community Tank Compatibility:
They are generally peaceful but can become territorial. Suitable tank mates include smaller, non-aggressive fish that do not nip fins.

Breeding:
Breeding Platinum Angelfish requires setting up a separate breeding tank with optimal water conditions. Once a pair is formed, they will clean a surface (like a leaf or flat rock) to lay eggs. The parents often guard the eggs, which hatch in 2-3 days.

Please note:
We don't ship live animals. You can order online and choose click and collect, and we will hold it for you.
