French beans, also known as green beans or snap beans, are a popular and productive vegetable, producing slender, tender pods with a sweet, delicate flavour. They can be grown as dwarf or climbing varieties, making them suitable for gardens of all sizes. French beans are best harvested young when they are crisp and stringless. They are a great source of vitamins and fibre and can be eaten raw, steamed, stir-fried, or added to salads. Easy to grow, they require little maintenance apart from regular watering and picking to encourage more pods.
