The Colombian Redfin Tetra, scientifically known as Hyphessobrycon colombianus, is a striking and attractive freshwater fish that adds color and vibrancy to aquariums. This species is native to the clearwater rivers and tributaries of South America, specifically in Colombia and Venezuela. Colombian Redfin Tetras are known for their beautiful coloration, featuring a bright red stripe that runs along their body, contrasted against a silver-blue background. Their peaceful temperament and schooling behavior make them a popular choice for community aquariums.

Origin: Colombian Redfin Tetras are native to South America, particularly in the river systems of Colombia and Venezuela.

Temperature: The ideal temperature range for Colombian Redfin Tetras is between 22°C to 28°C (72°F to 82°F).

Water Quality: They thrive in slightly acidic to neutral water conditions with a pH range of 6.0 to 7.0 and moderate water hardness.

Aquarium Size: A tank of at least 75 liters is recommended for a school of Colombian Redfin Tetras. They are schooling fish and should be kept in groups of at least six individuals. The tank should have plenty of plants and hiding spots, with open areas for swimming.

Feeding: Colombian Redfin Tetras are omnivores and can be fed a diet of high-quality flake or pellet food. They also enjoy live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, daphnia, or bloodworms as occasional treats.

Lifespan: With proper care, Colombian Redfin Tetras typically live for about 3 to 5 years in captivity.

Behavior and Personality: These tetras are known for their peaceful and social nature. They are excellent community fish and get along well with other non-aggressive species. Colombian Redfin Tetras display shoaling behavior, and a group of them creates a visually appealing and dynamic presence in the aquarium.
