The Bleeding Heart Tetra, scientifically known as Hyphessobrycon erythrostigma, is a captivating and visually striking freshwater fish that adds a touch of elegance to any aquarium. This species is named for the distinct, heart-shaped red mark on its silver body, which resembles a bleeding heart. Native to the Amazon River basin in South America, Bleeding Heart Tetras are appreciated for their peaceful nature and striking appearance. Their captivating colors and unique markings make them a sought-after choice for aquarists looking to enhance the beauty of their aquatic setups.

Origin: Bleeding Heart Tetras originate from the clearwater streams and tributaries of the Amazon River basin in South America, primarily in Brazil and Peru.

Temperature: The ideal temperature range for Bleeding Heart Tetras is between 23°C to 28°C (73°F to 82°F).

Water Quality: They thrive in soft to moderately hard water with a pH range of 6.0 to 7.0.

Aquarium Size: A tank of at least 75 liters is recommended to provide ample swimming space for a school of Bleeding Heart Tetras. They are schooling fish and should be kept in groups of at least six individuals. The tank should be well-planted with open areas for swimming and hiding spots.

Feeding: Bleeding Heart Tetras are omnivores and can be fed a diet of high-quality flake or pellet food, supplemented with live or frozen foods like brine shrimp, daphnia, or bloodworms for nutritional variety.

Lifespan: With proper care, Bleeding Heart Tetras typically live for about 5 to 7 years in captivity.

Behavior and Personality: These tetras are known for their peaceful and sociable nature. They are excellent community fish and get along well with other non-aggressive species. Bleeding Heart Tetras exhibit shoaling behavior, and a group of them creates a mesmerizing display in the aquarium.
