Acer palmatum Dissectum, commonly known as the Japanese Maple, is a beautiful and delicate plant that is perfect for a garden. This deciduous tree has finely cut, lacy leaves that change colour throughout the seasons. In spring, the leaves are light green, turning to a deeper green in summer, before changing to a beautiful red and orange in autumn. The tree is slow-growing, reaching a maximum height of 3m, making it perfect for small gardens or as a container plant. Its weeping habit creates a beautiful architectural feature, and the stunning foliage adds a splash of colour to any garden.

What to Know:
- Plant in a sheltered spot to protect it from strong winds
- Keep soil moist but not waterlogged, particularly during hot weather
- Fertilise once a year in spring with a balanced fertiliser
- Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and remove any damaged or diseased wood
- Protect from frost in the winter by covering with horticultural fleece
