The Siamese Fighter Super Delta Dragon Male is an exquisite and highly sought-after variety of the Betta splendens species. This betta variant stands out for its impressive finnage and distinctive coloration. The term "Super Delta" refers to the shape of the male's tail, which opens in a wide fan-like formation close to, but not quite reaching, the 180-degree spread seen in Halfmoon Bettas. The "Dragon" in its name denotes the scale type - these Bettas often have thick, metallic-looking scales that give them a dragon-like appearance. Their coloration is typically intense and can include a range of hues, often with a metallic sheen. This variety combines the dramatic finnage of the Delta tail with the striking visual impact of Dragon scale patterns, making them a prized possession for Betta enthusiasts.
Origin: Like other Betta splendens, the Super Delta Dragon Male is native to Southeast Asia, specifically the Mekong basin. However, this particular form is a result of selective breeding to enhance its unique features.
Temperature: The ideal temperature range for the Siamese Fighter Super Delta Dragon is between 24°C to 28°C (75°F to 82°F).
Water Quality: These Bettas thrive in a pH range of 6.5 to 7.5 and prefer soft to moderately hard water.
Aquarium Size: A minimum tank size of 20 liters is recommended for a single male Super Delta Dragon Betta. The tank should be well-planted with enough space for swimming and hiding, and the water flow should be gentle.
Feeding: Their diet should consist of high-protein foods, such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and quality Betta pellets, to maintain their vibrant colors and overall health.
Lifespan: The average lifespan of a Siamese Fighter Super Delta Dragon Male is around 3 to 5 years, depending on the quality of care and environment.
Behavior and Personality: This variety, like other male Bettas, is known for its territorial nature. They are best kept alone or with carefully selected tank mates. These Bettas are often interactive and enjoy showing off their impressive fins.
