The Yellow Shubunkin is a captivating variety of goldfish known for its vibrant yellow coloration and speckled pattern. Originating from East Asia, this fish is a result of selective breeding, aimed at enhancing its unique color and physical features. Yellow Shubunkins are part of the 'Calico' goldfish group, which includes fishes with a combination of colors and a mottled pattern. They are recognized for their elongated body shape and flowing, delicate fins that add to their graceful appearance. These fish are hardy and adaptable, making them suitable for both beginner and experienced aquarists.

Origin: The Yellow Shubunkin originates from East Asia and is a selectively bred variant of the common goldfish.

Temperature: The ideal temperature for Yellow Shubunkin is between 18°C to 22°C.

Feeding: They thrive on a varied diet including high-quality goldfish pellets or flakes, fresh vegetables, and occasional treats like brine shrimp or bloodworms.

Water Quality: Yellow Shubunkins prefer a pH range of 6.5 to 8.0 and moderate water hardness.

Ideal Aquarium Size: A minimum of 75 liters per fish is recommended, with ample swimming space and a well-filtered, oxygen-rich environment. Avoid overcrowding to maintain good water quality.

Lifespan: With proper care, Yellow Shubunkins can live up to 10-15 years, sometimes longer.

Community Tank Compatibility: They are peaceful fish and can be kept with other non-aggressive species of similar size. However, care should be taken to ensure that faster swimmers do not outcompete them for food.

Breeding: Breeding Yellow Shubunkins requires a spacious tank with good water quality. The process is triggered by increasing water temperatures in spring. Providing a spawning mop or fine-leaved plants can offer a place for the female to lay eggs. After spawning, it's advisable to remove adults to prevent them from eating the eggs.

Please note: We don't ship live animals. You can order online and choose click and collect, and we will hold it for you.
