Guatemalan Tiger Rump Tarantula (Davus pentaloris)

Origin: Native to Guatemala, El Salvador, and Mexico. it inhabits lowland forests where it lives at the ground level under logs and rocks. It is fairly humid and temperatures vary between 20 and 27 degrees celcius.

Temperature: The ideal temperature range for a Guatemalan Tiger Rump is between 75-85°F (24-29°C). It is important to maintain a consistent temperature in their enclosure, as sudden temperature drops can stress the spider and even lead to illness.

Housing: Guatemalan Tiger Rumps require an enclosure that is at least 2-3 times their leg span in length and width. They should also have a hiding place, such as a hollow log or a small cave, and a water dish.

Feeding: Guatemalan Tiger Rumps are carnivorous and primarily feed on insects such as crickets, mealworms, and roaches. They should be fed once or twice a week, depending on their size and age. It is essential to provide them with live prey as they do not typically respond to dead prey.

Lifespan: Guatemalan Tiger Rump can live up to 10 years in captivity, making them a long-term commitment for tarantula enthusiasts. However, their lifespan can vary depending on their environment and care.

Behavior and Personality: Guatemalan Tiger Rump are a small and fast species that are not suitable to handle. They are generally not defensive and more inclined to run and hide.
