The Albino Pueblan x Nelson's Milk Snake is a unique and captivating hybrid snake resulting from the crossbreeding of the Albino Pueblan Milk Snake (Lampropeltis triangulum campbelli) and the Nelson's Milk Snake (Lampropeltis triangulum nelsoni). This hybrid snake combines the striking colors and patterns of both parent species, creating a visually stunning reptile.
Origin: Both the Albino Pueblan Milk Snake and Nelson's Milk Snake are native to various regions in North America. The Pueblan Milk Snake is found in Mexico, while Nelson's Milk Snake is native to the southwestern United States and Mexico. The hybrid is typically bred in captivity by snake enthusiasts and breeders.
Temperature: The Albino Pueblan x Nelson's Milk Snake requires a controlled temperature gradient in its enclosure to mimic its natural habitat. Maintain a basking spot temperature around 85-90°F (29-32°C) and a cooler side around 75-80°F (24-27°C). Utilize heating elements like heat mats or heat lamps to achieve and maintain these temperature ranges.
Housing: Provide a secure and appropriately-sized enclosure for your hybrid milk snake. A 20-gallon terrarium is suitable for adults. Use a substrate such as aspen bedding or cypress mulch. Include hiding spots, branches, and a water dish. Make sure to provide a temperature gradient and maintain proper humidity levels.
Feeding: Albino Pueblan x Nelson's Milk Snakes are carnivorous and primarily feed on a diet of appropriately-sized rodents, such as mice and rat pups. Feed your snake every 7-10 days, adjusting the size of the prey item as your snake grows. Always ensure that the prey item is no wider than the snake's widest part to avoid any issues with digestion.
Lifespan: With proper care, these hybrid milk snakes can live for approximately 15-20 years or more in captivity. They typically reach sexual maturity at around 2-3 years of age, depending on their growth rate.
Behavior and Personality: This hybrid milk snake is generally docile and can be easily handled with care. Like most milk snakes, they tend to be curious and active during the evening and night. They may appreciate occasional handling but should be approached gently and with respect for their individual temperament.
