Panda Corydoras Fish
The Panda Corydoras, also known as Corydoras panda or Panda Catfish, is a charming and peaceful freshwater fish that belongs to the Corydoras genus. This small-sized fish is widely loved and sought after by aquarium enthusiasts for its distinctive black and white coloration, resembling a panda bear.
Origin: The Panda Corydoras fish is native to the upper Rio Madeira basin in Brazil, South America.
Temperature: The ideal temperature range for keeping Panda Corydoras fish is between 72°F to 78°F (22°C to 26°C). Maintaining a stable and appropriate temperature is crucial for their overall health and well-being.
Housing: Panda Corydoras fish are shoaling species, meaning they prefer to live in groups of at least 6 individuals. A suitable aquarium for them should be well-planted with hiding spots like caves, driftwood, and dense vegetation. The tank should have a sandy substrate to mimic their natural habitat, as they enjoy sifting through the sand looking for food. Keeping the water quality pristine is essential, and a moderate flow filter should be used to maintain good water circulation.
Feeding: In the wild, Panda Corydoras fish are omnivores, and they have a similar diet in captivity. They primarily feed on small aquatic invertebrates, worms, insects, and crustaceans. In an aquarium setting, they readily accept high-quality sinking pellets, flakes, and frozen or live foods like bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia.
Lifespan: With proper care, Panda Corydoras fish can live up to 5 years or even longer. Providing a well-maintained environment and a balanced diet can contribute to their longevity.
Behavior and Personality: Panda Corydoras fish are peaceful and social creatures. They are known for their playful and active behavior, especially when kept in a group. They spend a lot of time exploring the bottom of the aquarium, scavenging for food and sifting through the substrate. They are compatible with other peaceful community fish and make excellent additions to community aquariums.
