Blood Red Shrimp, scientifically known as Caridina cantonensis var. "Blood Red," is a captivating and sought-after freshwater shrimp variety known for its intense red coloration. Origin: Blood Red Shrimp are selectively bred from the Crystal Red Shrimp (Caridina cantonensis) and are not found in the wild. They are the result of careful breeding to enhance their red coloration.
Temperature: The ideal temperature range for Blood Red Shrimp is between 18°C to 24°C (64°F to 75°F).
Water Quality: They thrive in slightly acidic to neutral water conditions with a pH range of 6.2 to 7.5. Maintaining stable water parameters and good water quality is crucial for their health.
Aquarium Size: Due to their small size, Blood Red Shrimp can thrive in nano aquariums of 10 liters or more. They are social and should be kept in groups for a more natural and active display.
Feeding: Blood Red Shrimp are omnivorous and feed on a variety of foods. They primarily graze on biofilm, algae, and detritus in the aquarium. However, they can be supplemented with high-quality shrimp-specific pellets, blanched vegetables like spinach or zucchini, and occasional treats like brine shrimp or bloodworms.
