The Electric Blue Ram, scientifically known as Mikrogeophagus ramirezi, is a captivating and vibrant freshwater fish, popular among aquarium enthusiasts for its striking blue coloration and peaceful temperament. Originating from the Orinoco River basin in Venezuela and Colombia, these small cichlids exhibit a bright, iridescent blue hue that is especially prominent in males. They reach an adult size of around 5-7 centimeters, making them a suitable choice for smaller aquarium setups. Electric Blue Rams are known for their playful and curious nature, often seen actively exploring their environment or engaging in social interactions with other tank mates.

Origin: The Electric Blue Ram is native to the Orinoco River basin in Venezuela and Colombia.

Temperature: The ideal temperature for Electric Blue Rams is between 26°C to 29°C.

Feeding: Electric Blue Rams thrive on a varied diet including flakes, pellets, frozen foods, and live foods such as brine shrimp and bloodworms.

Water Quality: These fish require soft to medium-hard water with a pH range of 6.0 to 7.5 for optimal health.

Ideal Aquarium Size: A minimum aquarium size of 75 liters is recommended for Electric Blue Rams. They prefer well-planted tanks with plenty of hiding spaces and a sandy substrate to mimic their natural habitat.

Lifespan: Electric Blue Rams typically live for about 3 to 4 years in a well-maintained aquarium.

Community Tank Compatibility: They are peaceful and can coexist with other similarly sized and temperament fish. Avoid pairing them with aggressive or very large species.

Breeding: Breeding Electric Blue Rams requires maintaining optimal water conditions and providing a diet rich in high-quality foods. They form monogamous pairs and prefer to lay their eggs on flat surfaces like rocks or leaves. The parents often guard the eggs and fry diligently.
