Pepper Corydoras (Corydoras paleatus): Pepper Corydoras, scientifically known as Corydoras paleatus, is a popular freshwater fish among aquarium enthusiasts. These charming fish are native to South America and are widely appreciated for their distinctive appearance and peaceful nature.
Origin: Pepper Corydoras, or Corydoras paleatus, originate from South America, specifically from the river basins of Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil.
Temperature: The ideal temperature range for Pepper Corydoras is between 22°C to 26°C (72°F to 79°F). Keeping the water temperature within this range ensures their comfort and well-being in the aquarium.
Water Quality: Pepper Corydoras thrive in slightly acidic to neutral water conditions. They prefer a pH range between 6.0 and 7.5 and relatively soft to moderately hard water with a water hardness (dH) of 2 to 12.
Aquarium Size: To provide a suitable habitat for Pepper Corydoras, it is recommended to have an aquarium with a minimum size of 80 liters (approximately 21 gallons). These fish are known to be social, so it's advisable to keep them in groups of at least six individuals to promote their well-being.
Feeding: Pepper Corydoras are omnivores and have a varied diet. They readily accept high-quality fish flakes, pellets, and sinking catfish pellets. Additionally, they enjoy occasional treats of live or frozen foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp. Providing a balanced diet is essential for their health.
Lifespan: With proper care, Pepper Corydoras can live for an average of 5 to 7 years in captivity. Maintaining a stable and clean aquarium environment contributes significantly to their longevity.
