The Golden Angelfish, scientifically known as Pterophyllum scalare, is a striking and popular freshwater fish in the aquarium hobby, prized for its unique shape and vibrant golden coloration. This species typically grows up to 15 centimeters in length and has a tall, laterally compressed body with long, flowing dorsal and anal fins. These fish are known for their peaceful temperament, making them ideal for community tanks. However, they can be territorial during breeding. Golden Angelfish thrive in well-planted aquariums that provide plenty of hiding spaces and open swimming areas. They are omnivorous, feeding on a variety of foods, and require specific water conditions to remain healthy. Due to their size and fin structure, they are best kept in larger aquariums with ample space to accommodate their swimming style and growth.

Origin:
The Golden Angelfish is originally from the Amazon Basin in South America, where it inhabits slow-moving waters with dense vegetation.

Temperature:
The ideal temperature for Golden Angelfish is between 25°C to 28°C.

Feeding:
Golden Angelfish should be fed a varied diet that includes flakes, pellets, frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia.

Water Quality:
These fish prefer a pH range of 6.0 to 7.5 and soft to moderately hard water.

Ideal Aquarium Size:
A minimum tank size of 100 liters is recommended for Golden Angelfish. The tank should have plenty of plants and space for swimming, with gentle filtration to maintain water quality without creating strong currents.

Lifespan:
With proper care, Golden Angelfish can live up to 10 years in captivity.

Community Tank Compatibility:
Golden Angelfish are generally peaceful but can be territorial, especially during breeding. They are best kept with similarly sized, non-aggressive fish.

Breeding:
Breeding Golden Angelfish involves setting up a separate breeding tank with optimal water conditions. Pairs will clean a flat surface to lay eggs. Parent fish often guard the eggs, which hatch in 2-3 days. Fry should be fed with suitable food like infusoria or liquid fry food initially.
