Origin:
Tiger Oscars are native to the Amazon River basin in South America. The albino variant has been developed through selective breeding and does not occur naturally in the wild.
Temperature:
Albino Tiger Oscars thrive in warmer water temperatures, ideally between 23°C and 28°C.
Water Quality:
They prefer a pH range of 6.0 to 8.0 and are adaptable to a variety of water hardness levels, but thrive best in a moderately hard water environment.
Aquarium Size:
Due to their potential size and territorial nature, a minimum tank size of 200 liters is recommended for a single Albino Tiger Oscar. Larger tanks are necessary for multiple specimens or community setups.
Feeding:
Oscars are carnivorous and require a diet rich in protein. This can include high-quality cichlid pellets, live or frozen foods like shrimp, and occasionally feeder fish. It's important to provide a balanced diet and avoid overfeeding.
Lifespan:
In a well-maintained aquarium, Albino Tiger Oscars can live for 10 to 15 years, sometimes even longer with exceptional care.
Community Tank Compatibility:
These fish are territorial and can be aggressive, especially during feeding or breeding. They should be kept with other large, robust fish that can hold their own. Smaller or more timid species may be bullied or eaten.
