The Black Cherry Shrimp, scientifically known as Neocaridina davidi, is a charming and popular freshwater shrimp species cherished for its striking black coloration and ease of care. Originating from Taiwan, these shrimp are a favorite among aquarists, especially those who keep planted tanks. Black Cherry Shrimp are known for their deep black coloration, which intensifies as they mature. Their small size and peaceful nature make them a delightful addition to community aquariums, and they are often chosen for their algae-eating abilities.

Origin: Black Cherry Shrimp originate from Taiwan.

Temperature: The ideal temperature range for Black Cherry Shrimp is between 20°C to 26°C (68°F to 79°F).

Water Quality: They thrive in stable water conditions with a pH range of 6.5 to 7.5 and moderate water hardness.

Aquarium Size: A tank of at least 20 liters is suitable for keeping a colony of Black Cherry Shrimp. The tank should be well-planted with plenty of hiding spots and surfaces for algae growth.

Feeding: Black Cherry Shrimp are primarily algae eaters, but they also benefit from a varied diet that includes high-quality shrimp pellets or flakes, blanched vegetables like spinach or zucchini, and occasional treats like bloodworms or brine shrimp.

Lifespan: With proper care, Black Cherry Shrimp typically live for about 1 to 2 years.

Behavior and Personality: These shrimp are peaceful and non-aggressive, making them excellent tankmates for various fish and other shrimp species. They spend their time foraging for algae and detritus, contributing to the overall cleanliness of the aquarium.
