The Lichen Stick Insect, a variety of Extatosoma tiaratum, is an intriguing and visually fascinating species of phasmid, commonly known as stick insects. This particular variety is noted for its remarkable camouflage that resembles lichen-covered branches, aiding in its defense against predators. Typically found in Australia, the Lichen Stick Insect is popular among insect enthusiasts for its unique appearance and relatively easy care. It is an excellent example of nature's mimicry, with a body structure and coloration that allow it to blend seamlessly into its surroundings.

Origin:

Extatosoma tiaratum, including the Lichen variety, is native to Australia. They thrive in environments where they can easily blend into the foliage, utilizing their camouflage to avoid detection.

Temperature:

A temperature range of 70-80°F (21-27°C) with moderate humidity is suitable for maintaining a healthy environment for these insects. It's important to avoid extreme temperatures and ensure a stable environment.

Housing:

The enclosure for a Lichen Stick Insect should be tall to accommodate their climbing behavior, with plenty of branches or artificial plants for them to cling to. A well-ventilated enclosure is essential to prevent mold and mildew. The substrate can include soil or paper towels for easy cleaning.
