Rhamnus alaternus 'Argenteovariegata', commonly known as the variegated Italian buckthorn, is an evergreen shrub prized for its glossy green leaves edged with striking creamy-white margins. This tough and resilient plant is ideal for coastal gardens, as it tolerates salty winds and poor soils. With its dense foliage and year-round interest, it works well as a hedge, screen, or as an accent plant in mixed borders. Its small, insignificant greenish-yellow flowers in spring are followed by red berries that darken to black, adding further ornamental appeal.
