Cotoneaster horizontalis
Cotoneaster horizontalis, commonly known as the rock cotoneaster, is a deciduous shrub appreciated for its distinctive, herringbone-patterned branches. In spring, it produces small pinkish-white flowers, which are followed by bright red berries in autumn, providing year-round interest. Its small, glossy green leaves turn shades of red and purple in the fall. This low-growing shrub thrives in well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade, making it an excellent choice for ground cover, rock gardens, and cascading over walls.
