What is a prepared Hyacinth?
Prepared hyacinths are so called because they have been "prepared" for early flowering. This is achieved by the simple expedient of chilling the bulbs during the summer at sub-zero temperatures for a week or so. This convinces the bulb that it has experienced a full winter, and it is then ready to produce flowers. Prepared hyacinth sould be planted into a pot and kept indoor or in a sunny spot on the patio. If kept indoor it will flower in February. Once it is finished flowering you could take it out of the pot and plant it in the garden for next year.
