The Blood Red Parrot Cichlid is a striking and vibrant freshwater fish known for its stunning red-orange coloration and distinct, rounded body shape. These fish are a result of selective breeding, combining different cichlid species to create this unique hybrid. Originating from the aquaculture industry, they do not have a natural habitat in the wild.

Origin: Blood Red Parrot Cichlids do not have a native habitat in the wild; they were specifically created through selective breeding in captivity.

Temperature: The ideal temperature range for Blood Red Parrot Cichlids is between 25°C and 28°C (77°F - 82°F). Maintaining a stable water temperature within this range is crucial for their well-being.

Feeding: Blood Red Parrot Cichlids are omnivorous and should be offered a varied diet. High-quality pellets and flakes formulated for cichlids should make up the staple of their diet. Additionally, supplement their diet with frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and chopped vegetables like spinach or peas.

Water Quality: These cichlids thrive in slightly alkaline water with a pH level ranging from 7.4 to 8.0. The water hardness should be around 10-15 dGH (degrees of General Hardness) to ensure their well-being.

Ideal Aquarium Size: For a pair or a small group of Blood Red Parrot Cichlids, an aquarium with a minimum size of 120 liters (approximately 32 gallons) is recommended. However, a larger tank, around 200 liters (approximately 53 gallons) or more, is preferable for a more comfortable and spacious environment.

Lifespan: With proper care, Blood Red Parrot Cichlids can have a lifespan of 10 to 15 years. Consistent water quality, a balanced diet, and a stress-free environment are essential for maximizing their longevity.

Community Tank Compatibility: Blood Red Parrot Cichlids can be somewhat aggressive, especially during breeding or territorial disputes. Therefore, it's best to keep them with other semi-aggressive or similarly sized fish in a spacious aquarium. Avoid housing them with smaller or more timid species.

Breeding: Breeding Blood Red Parrot Cichlids can be challenging due to their unique shape, which can hinder natural spawning. However, if breeding is desired, provide them with a spacious, well-decorated tank with flat surfaces for potential spawning sites. Water conditions and a diet rich in high-quality foods should be carefully managed to encourage breeding behavior. If successful, the female will lay eggs, and the male will fertilize them. It's recommended to seek advice from experienced breeders for optimal results.
