Geranium 'Ann Folkard' is a popular hardy geranium variety known for its vibrant magenta flowers and unique foliage. The blooms appear in summer and are held above the foliage on long stems, creating a striking display. The leaves are deeply cut and have a bronze tinge to them. This geranium is a great addition to borders, cottage gardens, and containers, and it is loved by bees and other pollinators.
Why we like it:
- Vibrant magenta flowers add a pop of colour to any garden.
- Unique foliage with a bronze tinge provides interest even when the plant is not in bloom.
- Attracts bees and other pollinators to the garden.
What to know:
- Geranium 'Ann Folkard' prefers moist, well-draining soil and partial shade, although it can tolerate full sun in cooler climates.
- Deadheading spent blooms will encourage the plant to produce more flowers.
- This geranium can be cut back after the first flush of blooms to encourage a second round of flowering.
- It is a relatively low-maintenance plant and does not typically require fertilisation.
- The flowering period typically occurs from early summer to early autumn.
