The Red Wag Platy, or Xiphophorus maculatus, is a vibrant and popular freshwater fish in the aquarium hobby known for its striking red coloration and lively personality. Platies are a great choice for beginner aquarists due to their hardiness, ease of care, and attractive appearance. The Red Wag Platy, in particular, stands out with its bright red body and distinctive black tail fin, which gives it the "wag" in its name. These fish are known for their active and playful behavior, making them an enjoyable addition to community aquariums.

Origin: Red Wag Platies are native to Central America, primarily found in Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras.

Temperature: The ideal temperature range for Red Wag Platies is between 20°C to 26°C (68°F to 79°F).

Water Quality: They thrive in a pH range of 7.0 to 8.0 and prefer moderately hard water conditions.

Aquarium Size: A minimum tank size of 40 liters is suitable for a small group of Red Wag Platies. They are social fish and should be kept in groups of 3 or more. Provide ample plants and hiding spots in the aquarium.
