White's Tree Frog, also known as the dumpy tree frog or Australian green tree frog, is a charming amphibian known for its endearing appearance and delightful personality. These frogs have become popular pets due to their docile nature and ease of care. Native to Australia, specifically the regions of Queensland and the Northern Territory, White's Tree Frogs are highly adaptable and can be found in a variety of habitats, including rainforests, woodlands, and suburban gardens.

Origin:

White's Tree Frogs originate from Australia, primarily in the regions of Queensland and the Northern Territory. They are endemic to this area and have adapted to various environments within their native range.

Temperature:

The ideal temperature range for White's Tree Frogs is between 75 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit (24 to 29 degrees Celsius). It is important to provide a temperature gradient within their enclosure, including a cooler area and a warmer spot, allowing the frogs to regulate their body temperature.

Housing:

To keep White's Tree Frogs as pets, a suitable enclosure is necessary. A glass terrarium or vivarium with a secure lid is recommended to prevent escape. The enclosure should be spacious, providing ample room for climbing and jumping. It should also be equipped with branches, plants, and hiding spots to replicate their natural habitat. A substrate such as coconut fiber or sphagnum moss can be used for the floor, and a shallow water dish should be provided for soaking.

Feeding:

White's Tree Frogs are opportunistic feeders and have a voracious appetite. Their diet primarily consists of insects, such as crickets, roaches, and mealworms. They can also be fed appropriately sized pinky mice or other small vertebrates on occasion. It is important to ensure that their food items are appropriately sized to avoid choking hazards.

Lifespan:

With proper care, White's Tree Frogs can live for 10 to 15 years in captivity. Factors such as diet, habitat conditions, and overall health play a significant role in determining their lifespan. Regular veterinary check-ups, a balanced diet, and a suitable environment are essential for ensuring their longevity.

Behavior and Personality:

White's Tree Frogs are known for their calm and friendly disposition. They are relatively easy to handle and tolerate gentle interaction. These frogs are predominantly nocturnal and spend most of their days resting, often hiding in foliage or perched on branches. At night, they become more active, displaying their excellent climbing abilities and their characteristic call, which resembles a loud honking or barking sound.
